Produced by founding member Lee Loughnane, CHICAGO CHRISTMAS is the 37th album of the band’s career and its fourth holiday collection. Whereas its previous releases focused more on traditional Christmas songs, the new record spotlights holiday music the band wrote especially for the album, including “All Over The World,” “(Because) It’s Christmastime,” and “I’m Your Santa Claus.” The album also features R&B and ballad versions of “Merry Christmas, I Love You,” a song that Loughnane wrote with John Durrill of The Ventures, the best-selling instrumental band of all time.
Along with the new songs, the album also features the band’s interpretations of two holiday standards: “Here We Come A Caroling” and “Sleigh Ride.” It’s the second time Chicago has recorded “Sleigh Ride.” A different version appears on Chicago XXXIII: O Christmas Thee (2011). The album’s other non-original track is a soulful Chicago interpretation of the Hal David and Burt Bacharach classic, “What The World Needs Now Is Love,” which founding member Robert Lamm thought had a timely message for the holidays.

For the holidays, you can’t beat home sweet home—and you can’t beat the music of Perry Como, either! Mr. C’s warm baritone could be heard on many a Christmas tune during his tenure for RCA Victor, but Season’s Greetings From Perry Como was his first proper album of all Christmas music. Featuring a new recording of his classic “(There’s No Place Like) Home For The Holidays,” plus renditions of “White Christmas,” “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” and a closing suite of songs telling the story of the first Christmas, Season’s Greetings is a fine reminder of what made Perry Como one of the most treasured singers of the 1950s. Add it to your holiday music collection with the first vinyl pressing of the album in more than 35 years!

My childhood memories of Christmas aren't warm and fuzzy. The holidays were more of a nuisance for my parents than cause for celebration. This is not to say that on behalf of their only child they didn't give the season a halfhearted try. There were Christmases when I found under the tree an electric football set, a Daisy pump air-rifle and a basketball goal that never got nailed up. But, there were also mornings when apples, oranges, hickory nuts and a hammer signified that year's bounty. Which is to say that Christmas in our household was mostly a wait-and-see proposition. I was finally ready to record an album of original Christmas songs. With Dan Knobler producing and some very gifted musicians and vocalists lending their talents, the making of the album Christmas Everywhere ranks as some of the most enjoyable recording sessions I've ever experienced. The record was close to being finished when it occurred to me that to set the tone for the albums mostly irreverent subtext, I needed to compose a lyrical prelude. In honor of Clement Moore, who wrote the poem we all know as, 'The Night Before Christmas,' I came up with a short piece called 'Clement's Lament (We'll See You in The Mall)'. Tania Hancheroff and Kim Keyes stopped by the studio and performed the tune with Jordan Lehning's orchestral backing and the album was pronounced complete. Seasons Cheer, Rodney Crowell
Arkansas-reared, avant-roots/RnR raconteur Tav Falco is set to make the holidays merry with his first collection of Christmas standards, A Tav Falco Christmas. A fixture on the international music scene since 1981, Falco has been described by The New York Times as “A singer, guitarist and researcher of musical arcana who hasn’t let his increasingly technical expertise and idiomatic mastery compromise the clarity of his vision.” At the start of a scorching hot July in Memphis this year, Falco and his distinguished group of American/Euro vagabonds ensconced themselves at Sam Phillips Recording Service studios in Memphis. The lineup includes bassist Mike Watt (Minutemen, the Stooges), guitarist Mario Monterosso, and drummer Toby Dammit (currently the touring keyboardist in Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds). The album comes on a holiday red color LP, exclusively for Black Friday.
Night Divine is a series of hymns covered by Brian Fallon. This is a project he's been wanting to create for a long time, inspired by his time singing in the church choir as a child: “These are some of the very first sounds I remember hearing as a child. My mother used to sing these hymns everywhere she went. I felt it was time for me to join in.” He finally got the opportunity to make the intimate record during lockdown, with background vocals by his mother.
The lead singer of beloved heartland-punk band The Gaslight Anthem, Brian Fallon stepped away from that sound and into a more soulful singer/songwriter territory on his third solo album, Local Honey. Produced by Grammy-award winning producer Peter Katis (The National, Frightened Rabbit, Death Cab for Cutie), the album debuted at #1 Americana/Folk Album Sales, #2 Current Rock Albums, #3 Americana/Folk Albums, and #9 LP Vinyl Sales. It was largely praised as one of his best works, with Rolling Stone saying “Local Honey is as warm and comforting as its title, full of hooks and narratives that draw you in” (Best Country & Americana Albums of 2020) and Kerrang saying “No matter what side of the genre he sets his mind to, Brian always delivers the goods” (Best Albums of 2020).

A swinging Christmas and a jazzy new year-that's what this joyous 1960 Ella LP will bring you. She sings (and swings) Jingle Bells; Sleigh Ride; Winter Wonderland , and more! Verve's Acoustic Sounds Series features transfers from analog tapes and remastered 180-gram vinyl in deluxe gatefold packaging.
This album, much like the Diva herself, is full of range and diversity. It embodies classic music stylings - playing host to a 36-piece orchestra on “Let it Snow” and Ms. Gibson’s self penned future classic “The Gift”. Winterlicious also has a flurry of songs that are at home in the modern musical landscape with “New-stalgic songs like “Christmas Star” and “Jingle Those Bells” which show Gibson as a savvy song craftswoman who bridges the gap between the melodic stylings of Ronnie Spector and current pop bangers. We also find her two favorite Joe’s, Joey McIntyre who co-wrote the new holiday anthem "Heartbreak Holiday" for those missing that special someone at the holidays in a cinematic "will they, or won't they?" musical journey, and her father "Daddy Joe" duetting on a stunning new rendition of “White Christmas”. “Illuminate” is one of very few new original Hanukkah songs and Debbie felt intent on creating a spiritually uplifting song that speaks to tradition and the power of faith. The rousing Latin flavored big band medley of “Jingle Bell Rock “and “The Christmas Song” will get everyone on their feet. Ms. Gibson rarely finds a new original that she didn't write to call her own but she found that here in longtime friend Sylvia MacCalla's "I Wish Everyday Was Christmas" which so brilliantly captures her voice and spirit. Gibson's version of "Sleigh Ride" celebrates the 30th anniversary of its release with a remastered version and proceeds will continue to benefit Special Olympics. Lastly, we can ALL raise a glass to our loved ones near and far with the NYE themed “Cheers”, a profound look at what really matters in life during these chaotic times. Gibson teamed up with collaborators Sean Thomas (The Body Remembers/Hallmark), Fred Coury (Cinderella/Emmy award winning composer/producer), Joey Melotti (Barry Manilow) Joey Finger (Donny & Marie) and musicians Lydia Ansel (electric violin) and indie artist BONZIE (accordion) who she discovered why vinyl shopping at Rough Trade with the New York Times.
