Be Gentle With The Warm Turtle is the second studio recording by the Seattle quartet Kinski. Kinski's song structure, dynamics, delivery, and sheer volume of sound are stunning. They confidently occupy a space between Sonic Youth, Slint, Mogwai and Yo La Tengo. Available for the first time on vinyl as a double LP with two bonus tracks previously only available on compilations, their debut full length release ranks as a quite an achievement, succeeding where others in the often tiresome world of instrumental rock have failed.

Recorded and released in 1967 at the height of the Psychedelic movement on the Cotique imprint, The Lebron Brothers deliver an incredible release more than worthy of revisiting. Producer and Cotique label chief George Goldner recalls "All the tricks of way out sounds are put into these numbers. You will hear the weirdest sounds ever cut in Latin dance music. No one has ever dared to produce this sound in Latin Music in the past, but I felt the time had come to do it as all past records had the same sounds. Of course, arrangements had a lot to do with my decision to go on this electronic trip." And that trip is back in effect with Get On Down’s special Black Friday reissue from an oft overlooked portion of the Lebron Brothers’ storied history.

Musician and producer Marvin Etzioni first saw Maria McKee and Ryan Hedgecock in a club in 1982, playing George Jones and Hank Williams covers. He convinced them they needed original material. After working and writing, the band added Dave Harrington (bass) and Don Willens (drums), the band worked up material with Etzioni and cut 5 of the 6 tracks at the famed Record Plant. An earlier session provides the 6th track. The Western Tapes: 1983 exhibits the genesis of this highly-infl uential band. While the original demo version of “Drugstore Cowboy” has appeared on various compilations, the remainder of the other tracks from the sessions have remained in the can. Two of the tracks appear in their earliest demo form and wound up landing on the classic 1988 Lone Justice debut, “Working Late” and “Don’t Toss Us Away” (written by Maria’s half-brother, Bryan MacLean of the classic band, Love) which would eventually become a top 5 smash for Country superstar Patty Loveless. Released in conjunction with the band, the EP was mastered by Bernie Grundman (who also cut the 45 RPM lacquers). It’s a look into where they started and foretells where they would go.
As Etzioni (who would later join the band) says in his liner notes: “With countless hours together, it was a fun and innocent time. I believed we were creating a 21st century country band.”
They created much, much more. PLAY LOUD AT 45 RPM!

Ofege was formed in the early 1970s by a bunch of teenagers at the St. Gregory’s College in Lagos Nigeria. They were largely influenced by the guitar solos of Carlos Santana, Jeff Beck & Jimmy Page while closer to home, they were influenced by the music of ‘BLO’ (Berkley Jones, Laolu Akins and Mike Odumosu), ‘Monomono’ (led by Joni Haastrup), The Funkees, and Ofo The Black Company. Due to their vibrant combo of sweet harmonies, hooks & fuzz, Ofege would become one of the most legendary Nigerian groups of all time, with expressive sales and national stardom. At the turn of the century (and because of tracks appearing on various psychedelic music compilations) Ofege would receive international acknowledgment for being the first of their kind and the ultimate West-African psychedelic funk band! Their debut album (Try And Love, EMI 1973 – also reissued by Tidal Waves Music) was recorded while the band members were still in high school (average age of 16) … their follow up ‘The Last Of The Origins’ (Recorded in 1975 and released on EMI in 1976) took some years to come out because some band members had to finish school first. ‘The Last Of The Origins’ is an exceptional record with a deep psychedelic approach. Complex rhythm sections, African inspirations, huge breaks, wah wah guitars and cosmic synths …it’s all there! Easily one of the best Afro-funk albums recorded in Nigeria in the 70s. Tidal Waves Music now proudly presents the first ever official reissue of this rare Nigerian album (original copies tend to go for large amounts on the secondary market). Now finally back available as a limited vinyl edition (1000 copies) released exclusively for Record Store Day Black Friday 2018. Comes with the original artwork by Yomi Osunfisan (Fela Kuti) and exclusive liner notes/pictures provided by Ofege’s founding member ‘Melvin Ukachi’ who also supervised this reissue.

Published in 1975 and never reissued until now, "Blue Frog... and others" is a 10-song LP in which composer Enrico Simonetti, father of Claudio from Goblin, wrote all five tracks on side A together with Nicola De Vincenti and directed the orchestra in the whole record. The result is excellent, with a first 'animal side' with obvious musical references to animal sounds (the song titles leave no room for any doubt: Blue Frog, Water Snake, Lady Murmaid, Moonlight Fish and... Hally Gator!) and a second one consisting of cover songs of popular themes, all blended in an orchestral funk-pop context, well played and recorded.
What makes this release even more interesting is the presence, among the musicians, of Claudio Simonetti, Fabio Pignatelli, Massimo Morante and Walter Martino: in short, the complete Goblin line-up of "Profondo Rosso"!!! A real treat then, for fans of Goblin and soundtracks in particular; this reissue makes available again a record which, until now, was almost impossible to find outside the circle of vinyl rarities collectors. Not to be missed! Pressed on transparent blue vinyl

OutKast hypnotized the world with their eccentric style, expanding lyrical range and versatile melodic delivery on 1998’s harmonica-laced hit “Rosa Parks.” Celebrate this contagious hip-hop classic, still sweet as Georgia peaches 20 years later, with this special 12” single featuring the original version, a radio edit, and instrumental and a capella versions.
Dig deep in to the released output of famed producer David Axelrod and you’ll discover this gem, Pride. The single self-titled release is the pairing of Axelrod with his son Michael. The father-son duo deliver psychedelic pop with what many may call a Baroque folk-rock twist. Issued in 1970, the project is somewhat in the realm of the output from groups such as Love or The Byrds – but indelibly David
Axelrod through and through.

A highlight of the Ramones "Rocket To Russia" 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition (released in 2017) was the complete unreleased concert included on the third disc. The never-before-heard multi-track recording of the band's December 19, 1977 show at the Apollo Centre in Glasgow, Scotland captured the Ramones just a few days before the group recorded the classic live album It's Alive. It was mixed by Ed Stasium for the 40th Anniversary edition. In Glasgow, the Ramones played songs from all three studio albums including "Blitzkrieg Bop," "Judy Is A Punk," "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment," and "California Sun." This will be released on vinyl for the very first time on Record Store Day Black Friday, as a numbered, 180g limited edition.
In 1978, Keith Richards' first solo release was this holiday rock classic, on a 7" with "The Harder They Come" as the b-side. In 2007, Rudolph ran again with "Pressure Drop" as the b-side. This 40th anniversary red vinyl 12" celebrates the holidays and Keith Richards by putting both b-sides together.

NYC-based singer/songwriter Perry Serpa has possibly, for the very first time, brought to life a fictionally depicted album. The artist, in this case, is Tucker Crowe, the main character of Nick Hornby's celebrated novel Juiiet, Naked. Serpa takes his record's title from the name Hornby gave to its fictional tribute album and lifts the song titles, sequencing, couplets and influences laid out in the description of Crowe's tortured and lovesick opus. Guests include The Minus 5's Scott McCaughey, Laura Cantrell, Aja Warren and Edward Rogers. Wherefore Art Thou? coincides with Judd Apatow's screen adaptation of Juliet, Naked but is unrelated to the film.

Formed in Chicago, IL in 1988, The Smashing Pumpkins released their heralded debut album Gish in 1991 and found mainstream success with 1993’s 4x multi-platinum Siamese Dream and 1995’s 10x multi-platinum Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Following the release of Adore, Machina/The Machines of God, and Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music, the group’s original lineup disbanded in 2000. Singer/guitarist Billy Corgan reformed the group in 2005, enlisting various collaborators for Zeitgeist, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, Oceania, and Monuments to an Elegy. In June of 2018, The Smashing Pumpkins released their new single “Solara” ahead of their monumental Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour. The track was the first song in over 18 years to feature founding members Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin, alongside longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder and offered the first glimpse of music from the newly reformed lineup. Their 10th studio album SHINY AND OH SO BRIGHT, VOL. 1 / LP: NO PAST. NO FUTURE. NO SUN., recorded at Shangri La Studios with legendary producer Rick Rubin, is being released on a special picture disc LP version for Record Store Day Black Friday.

It’s no secret that The Smithereens grew up listening to The Beatles. They paid homage to the group’s landmark Capitol debut album by lovingly re-recording Meet The Beatles in its entirety. This time The Smithereens dug through their treasure of early Beatles singles and selected a dozen of Beatles B-sides. Originally released on vinyl in January of 2009 as a 2 disc set combined with Meet The Beatles, which has been out of print for five years. This marks the first vinyl stand-alone release for this part. For Beatle fans everywhere the final kick to this unique package is the orange and yellow swirl vinyl which was the original color combination for the label on the Capitol Records Beatles singles.

Soul Asylum first hit the Minneapolis music scene in early 1981. Core members Dave Pirner, Dan Murphy, and Karl Mueller met at local punk rock shows. Coming up in the shadow of formidable bands like Hüsker Dü and The Replacements, who they were all big fans of, was daunting but, ultimately, it inspired them to make a name for themselves. Soul Asylum stood out immediately because of their work ethic and smart, punky hard rock sound. They made four records for hometown label Twin/Tone Records, before moving on to the majors; first A&M, then Columbia where they scored two platinum albums and won a Best Rock Song Grammy® for “Runaway Train.” This special five-LP boxed set brings together Soul Asylum’s earliest albums (Say What You Will . . . Anything Can Happen, Made To Be Broken, and While You Were Out), their classic EP (Clam Dip & Other Delights), and the bonus track compilation and special new album (Twin/Tone Extras), a compilation that picks up select bonus tracks featured on the CD reissues of Soul Asylum’s Twin/Tone releases. The boxed set is co-produced by Twin/Tone Records cofounder and Replacements manager Peter Jesperson and Grammy®-winner and Omnivore Recordings co-founder Cheryl Pawelski. The Twin/Tone Years reaches back for some of the earliest Soul Asylum recordings as Loud Fast Rules and traces the history of the band through their indie, pre-major label years. A 20-page book is included with liner notes and previously unseen photos and memorabilia. The albums are being reissued on vinyl for the first time since their original releases, and have been restored and mastered by Grammy®-award winning engineer, Michael Graves at Osiris Studio and cut by Chris Muth at Taloowa. The Record Store Day Black Friday release includes a 20-page book with liner notes and previously unseen photos and memorabilia.
This single features a brand new song from Sting & Shaggy on the heels of their chart-topping, island-inspired album 44/876, with a guest verse from dancehall sensation Ding Dong. Intended for release in 1975 by ABC/Impulse!, Crystal Spears was ultimately rejected by the label, perhaps the new group of execs just didn’t “hear” what was going on on these recordings.
