RSD Black Friday 2018
Recorded and released in 1967 at the height of the Psychedelic movement on the Cotique imprint, The Lebron Brothers deliver an incredible release more than worthy of revisiting. Producer and Cotique label chief George Goldner recalls "All the tricks of way out sounds are put into these numbers. You will hear the weirdest sounds ever cut in Latin dance music. No one has ever dared to produce this sound in Latin Music in the past, but I felt the time had come to do it as all past records had the same sounds. Of course, arrangements had a lot to do with my decision to go on this electronic trip." And that trip is back in effect with Get On Down’s special Black Friday reissue from an oft overlooked portion of the Lebron Brothers’ storied history.

Musician and producer Marvin Etzioni first saw Maria McKee and Ryan Hedgecock in a club in 1982, playing George Jones and Hank Williams covers. He convinced them they needed original material. After working and writing, the band added Dave Harrington (bass) and Don Willens (drums), the band worked up material with Etzioni and cut 5 of the 6 tracks at the famed Record Plant. An earlier session provides the 6th track. The Western Tapes: 1983 exhibits the genesis of this highly-infl uential band. While the original demo version of “Drugstore Cowboy” has appeared on various compilations, the remainder of the other tracks from the sessions have remained in the can. Two of the tracks appear in their earliest demo form and wound up landing on the classic 1988 Lone Justice debut, “Working Late” and “Don’t Toss Us Away” (written by Maria’s half-brother, Bryan MacLean of the classic band, Love) which would eventually become a top 5 smash for Country superstar Patty Loveless. Released in conjunction with the band, the EP was mastered by Bernie Grundman (who also cut the 45 RPM lacquers). It’s a look into where they started and foretells where they would go.
As Etzioni (who would later join the band) says in his liner notes: “With countless hours together, it was a fun and innocent time. I believed we were creating a 21st century country band.”
They created much, much more. PLAY LOUD AT 45 RPM!

A collection created to focus on Nilsson's key contributions as a singer and not just a songwriter on this soundtrack. This Record Store Day Black Friday release features new artwork and music that has never been on vinyl before, including two songs written for the film but never used, "Everybody's Got To Eat",¯ and "I'd Rather Be Me".
This Record Store Day Black Friday title features the never-before-released track "Dirty White Glove" (taken from the Dance On The Blacktop recordings as well as the newly released "Spell" from the Tired Of Tomorrow sessions. Side B features a beautiful etching.

Published in 1975 and never reissued until now, "Blue Frog... and others" is a 10-song LP in which composer Enrico Simonetti, father of Claudio from Goblin, wrote all five tracks on side A together with Nicola De Vincenti and directed the orchestra in the whole record. The result is excellent, with a first 'animal side' with obvious musical references to animal sounds (the song titles leave no room for any doubt: Blue Frog, Water Snake, Lady Murmaid, Moonlight Fish and... Hally Gator!) and a second one consisting of cover songs of popular themes, all blended in an orchestral funk-pop context, well played and recorded.
What makes this release even more interesting is the presence, among the musicians, of Claudio Simonetti, Fabio Pignatelli, Massimo Morante and Walter Martino: in short, the complete Goblin line-up of "Profondo Rosso"!!! A real treat then, for fans of Goblin and soundtracks in particular; this reissue makes available again a record which, until now, was almost impossible to find outside the circle of vinyl rarities collectors. Not to be missed! Pressed on transparent blue vinyl

OutKast hypnotized the world with their eccentric style, expanding lyrical range and versatile melodic delivery on 1998’s harmonica-laced hit “Rosa Parks.” Celebrate this contagious hip-hop classic, still sweet as Georgia peaches 20 years later, with this special 12” single featuring the original version, a radio edit, and instrumental and a capella versions.
Dig deep in to the released output of famed producer David Axelrod and you’ll discover this gem, Pride. The single self-titled release is the pairing of Axelrod with his son Michael. The father-son duo deliver psychedelic pop with what many may call a Baroque folk-rock twist. Issued in 1970, the project is somewhat in the realm of the output from groups such as Love or The Byrds – but indelibly David
Axelrod through and through.

Released only in Japan in 1997, this collection of live and demo tracks—available for the first time on vinyl—is a must for Rage Against The Machine fans! In 2004, veteran MC Edo G and legendary producer Pete Rock combined for golden era classic My Own Worst Enemy. Nearly fifteen years later, their collaborative effort receives the deluxe reissue treatment in a full color 2XLP with full album instrumentals.

NYC-based singer/songwriter Perry Serpa has possibly, for the very first time, brought to life a fictionally depicted album. The artist, in this case, is Tucker Crowe, the main character of Nick Hornby's celebrated novel Juiiet, Naked. Serpa takes his record's title from the name Hornby gave to its fictional tribute album and lifts the song titles, sequencing, couplets and influences laid out in the description of Crowe's tortured and lovesick opus. Guests include The Minus 5's Scott McCaughey, Laura Cantrell, Aja Warren and Edward Rogers. Wherefore Art Thou? coincides with Judd Apatow's screen adaptation of Juliet, Naked but is unrelated to the film.

Soul Asylum first hit the Minneapolis music scene in early 1981. Core members Dave Pirner, Dan Murphy, and Karl Mueller met at local punk rock shows. Coming up in the shadow of formidable bands like Hüsker Dü and The Replacements, who they were all big fans of, was daunting but, ultimately, it inspired them to make a name for themselves. Soul Asylum stood out immediately because of their work ethic and smart, punky hard rock sound. They made four records for hometown label Twin/Tone Records, before moving on to the majors; first A&M, then Columbia where they scored two platinum albums and won a Best Rock Song Grammy® for “Runaway Train.” This special five-LP boxed set brings together Soul Asylum’s earliest albums (Say What You Will . . . Anything Can Happen, Made To Be Broken, and While You Were Out), their classic EP (Clam Dip & Other Delights), and the bonus track compilation and special new album (Twin/Tone Extras), a compilation that picks up select bonus tracks featured on the CD reissues of Soul Asylum’s Twin/Tone releases. The boxed set is co-produced by Twin/Tone Records cofounder and Replacements manager Peter Jesperson and Grammy®-winner and Omnivore Recordings co-founder Cheryl Pawelski. The Twin/Tone Years reaches back for some of the earliest Soul Asylum recordings as Loud Fast Rules and traces the history of the band through their indie, pre-major label years. A 20-page book is included with liner notes and previously unseen photos and memorabilia. The albums are being reissued on vinyl for the first time since their original releases, and have been restored and mastered by Grammy®-award winning engineer, Michael Graves at Osiris Studio and cut by Chris Muth at Taloowa. The Record Store Day Black Friday release includes a 20-page book with liner notes and previously unseen photos and memorabilia.
This single features a brand new song from Sting & Shaggy on the heels of their chart-topping, island-inspired album 44/876, with a guest verse from dancehall sensation Ding Dong. Intended for release in 1975 by ABC/Impulse!, Crystal Spears was ultimately rejected by the label, perhaps the new group of execs just didn’t “hear” what was going on on these recordings. Certainly for the uninitiated, this is not jazz as they know it but unbridled cacophony...or is it? Modern Harmonic presents the first legitimate LP release of Crystal Spears, pressed on colored vinyl and with liner notes by Ra-ficionado Brother Cleve!

In its first era, Big Star's musical style drew on The Beatles, the Rolling Stones and The Byrds. They produced a style that foreshadowed the alternative rock of the 1980s and 1990s. Before it broke up, Big Star created a “seminal body of work that never stopped inspiring succeeding generations” in the words of Rolling Stone as the “quintessential American power pop band” and “one of the most mythic and influential cult acts in all of rock & roll”. During the group’s hiatus in the 1980s, the Big Star discography drew renewed attention when R.E.M. and the Replacements, as well as other popular bands, cited the group as an influence. Now for the first time ever on vinyl is this amazing tribute to Big Star. Featuring the likes of Afghan Whigs, Mathew Sweet, Juliana Hatfield, Whiskeytown and Wilco plus

Some of today's most meaningful up and coming and established jazz artists pay homage to the iconic Beatles record "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". Musicians were given the challenge to create loose interpretation of these classic songs, and the result is impressionistic, original, avant-garde takes on legendary tracks like "With A Little Help From My Friends", "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds", "Getting Better", and "A Day In The Life".

Something Weird Video was founded in 1990 by Mike Vraney in Seattle, Washington. He was inspired by his teenage job as a theater projectionist.
