The debut album of caustic, flesh-ripping death metal from Sweden's Gutter Instinct: 'Age Of The Fanatics' takes the legacy of Swedish death metal into darker territories. Following their debut EP 'The Insurrection', this new opus develops a blackened edge to their already haunting death metal, drawing influence from bands such as Teitanblood, Bölzer, Grave Miasma, Black Witchery and Portal whilst still reeking of that buzzsaw Swedish sound. Forging their own way organically through the mire of death metal, 'Age Of The Fanatics' is testament to the unsettling creative depth of the extreme metal underground.

Vinyl LP pressing. 2018 release. Seattle, Washington's Hissing engage in dark, dissonant, cacophonous, inverted death metal noise and with their debut album, Permanent Destitution, the three-piece have created a nihilistic vision of deranged otherworldly audial pandemonium. A soundscape of pure enveloping darkness and unrelenting chaos, it deconstructs and builds itself through walls and layers of pummeling turmoil and disarray generated through twisted, angular guitar work and fretboard annihilation, surgically cold and calculated death march drums and monolithic bass, all with a dark overbearing ambience. The added touch of droning noise segments, also crucial to the band's sound, mixed with the doomy industrial components, become that final element to make this release a towering monument of primal avant-deathnoise. Formed in 2014, Hissing had already made quite the reputation as a force to be reckoned with on the West Coast through various live appearances (which included a major US tour with Sunn 0))), impressions made with their 2015 demo, and most notably with their 2016 self-titled 7-inch EP released by Southern Lord along with last year's massive split with Sutekh Hexen (Flenser).

Double vinyl LP pressing. Southern Lord are extremely pleased to be reviving the music of Philadelphia's lost punk heroes, Ruin. Long considered a treasured local delicacy of the city's earlier hardcore scene, Ruin released two albums during their original run, 1984's He-Ho and 1986's Fiat Lux, both of which are combined for this release. Set against the backdrop of a city destroying itself in slow motion, Ruin were of a Philly generation that had to create it's own culture to push back against the despair and dead ends that they were confronted with. Their relative isolation is mirrored in the distance between Ruin's muscular, turbo-garage jams and the rest of US punk/HC at the time - the band got it across not through violent speed and mania, but with body-shaking chunks of simpler punk that refused to fit in with the wider template. Labelled from their early days as a Buddhist hardcore band (though not strictly the truth), Ruin are an object of intrigue that have rewarded the curious since 1982, but getting your hands on either out of print He-Ho or Fiat Lux has never been an easy task. A recorded output that totals 28 tracks (including a couple of significant Leonard Cohen covers that were praised by the artist himself) are available here including original scans of the detailed lyric sheets and inserts, as well as in depth retrospective notes that help to place Ruin in Philly and punk history.

Seattle, WA based grind act Theories has been sowing the seeds of bleak, dark, and generally pissed off grind/metal in the pacific northwest since their inception in 2011. The band, comprised of current and former members Samothrace, Skarp, and Book of Black Earth, released their debut EP that same year. Their touring campaign followed shortly thereafter, and has taken them all over the US on nearly a dozen tours and to festivals including Maryland Death Fest, Chaos in Tejas, Southwest Terror Fest, and their most recent tour with new label mates, Cattle Decapitation. Vocalist Rick Powell, guitarist Lee McGlothlen, bassists Kush Karimi, and drummer Joe Axler are of a singular focus to tour as much as possible and to write hyper speed, violent music.

180gm vinyl LP pressing housed in a gatefold sleeve, includes digital download. Doom is all around us. The optimism of a new millennium has steadily disintegrated. As a result, it makes perfect sense that the emergence of British doom metal mavens With The Dead would strike a dissonant chord with so many people. Formed in 2014 by former Cathedral/Napalm Death frontman and Rise Above boss Lee Dorrian and ex-Electric Wizard/Ramesses bassist/guitarist Tim Bagshaw, the band coalesced in a monetary burst of spontaneity and shared fury, resulting in the release of their eponymous debut in 2015: one of that year's most widely acclaimed releases and a welcome shot in the arm for fans of merciless, unrelenting sonic despair. Darker, denser, more despondent and sickeningly heavy in numerous senses of the word, this is an album that re-establishes doom as a genre that embraces the extreme and not just some cozy, nostalgic reimagining of the early '70s. Love From With The Dead grimly extinguishes the light of hope and hammers home the hatred and futility that plagues our brief and brittle lives.

The Pacific Northwest's brooding black-metalist With the End in Mind will release their latest album, Unraveling; Arising, on July 6th with Temple of Torturous Records. - With the End in Mind is an ever-changing musical entity based in Olympia, Washington. Seeking to unite disparate musical influences, and to give voice to internal struggles with spirituality, modern civilization, and inevitable societal collapse. Following the release of several EPs and tours the band recently signed with Temple of Tortruous Records to release their latest record Unraveling; Arising. - Born of grief and uncertainty, born of life-changing experiences in the wilds of Northern California and the Olympic Mountains, born of ever escalating crises and ever escalating resistance, Unraveling; Arising is a labor of truest love, a call of urgency, a reverent homage to Life in all it's forms. Drawing on a diverse sonic palette, With the End in Mind creates a distinctive sound, rooted to Place. Each movement of the album reveals itself to be interwoven parts of a cohesive whole. Luscious soundscapes build from a whisper, only to be split like straining trees by the thunderous black metal storm. The maelstrom is tempered bythe occasional hint of dark folk and classic psychedelia, like echoes of a forgotten time and place. Fury and turmoil seem all-encompassing, yet give way to deeper understandings of Myth and the eternal cycles of our world. - As of now, more inspiration continues to pour through the vessel called With the End in Mind, with new contributors joining and new courses revealed. The inner flame of the project burns brighter than ever before!
