The Adicts came from Ipswich on the east coast of England, dressed in white in an amalgam of The Joker and Clockwork Orange imagery. Europe 1966 is a box set consisting of live performances from free jazz visionary Albert Ayler. Each of the 4 LP's highlights some of the most magnificent moments on this European tour, showcasing Ayler and his bandmates at the height of their powers. The release includes performances from Berlin, L�rrach, Stockholm, and Paris, all of which occurred within a two week span. Ayler's masterful band on this tour included his brother Donald on trumpet, Michel Samson on violin, William Folwell on double bass, and Beaver Harris on drums. These performances have been remastered for vinyl by Dave Gardner at Infrasonic Mastering. The package also includes a 12 x 24 fold-out insert, featuring liner notes from John Litweller and photos from the tour. The release will be available for Record Store Day 2023, with each LP pressed on audiophile-grade black vinyl at Pallas Group in Germany.

Bish at the Bank: Live in Baltimore is an official, previously unissued set of recordings by one of the unsung heroes of bepop jazz piano, Walter Bishop Jr., featuring a swinging trio with Harold Vick on saxophone, Lou McIntosh on bass and Dick Berk on drums. This hand-numbered (limited edition worldwide of 3000), double LP set was transferred from the original tape reels and is pressed on 180g vinyl and boasts 100 minutes of music, The gatefold sleeve includes an extensive booklet with essays by esteemed jazz journalist Ted Panken and jazz video journalist and friend of Bishop's, Bret Primack, rare photos by Don Schlitten, Raymod Ross and Jan Persson, and poetry pieces written by Bishop. The set is produced by label owner/musician Cory Weeds and "Jazz Detective" producer Zev Feldman.

The double LP set consists of two shows recorded in Baltimore, Maryland, LP 1 recorded at The Madison Club on August 28, 1966 and LP 2 at The Famous Ballroom on February 26, 1967.

Harlem-born Bishop began his performing and recording career as part of Art Blakey�s Jazz Messengers on his debut Blue Note album in 1948. His bebop style continued on with gigs and recordings with Kenny Dorham, Jimmy Heath, Milt Jackson, Stan Getz, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Oscar Pettiford, Wynton Kelly and many others. In the 1960s he fronted a trio with Jimmy Garrison and G.T. Hogan. He recorded for various independent labels including Jazztime, Black Jazz and Muse Records.

The 8-track set cooks with two Miles Davis compositions along with standards such as �Willow Weep for Me,� Antonio Carlos Jobim�s �Quiet Nights� and Henry Mancini�s �The Days of Wine and Roses."

Harry Whitaker is a piano player, producer and arranger who at the age of 26 recorded Black Renaissance "Body, Mind, and Spirit," a holy grail amongst collectors of soul-jazz and rare groove, and an album so rare it's virtually a myth to many.

Made up of two long tracks that periodically build and release for forty minutes over two sides of an LP it's an improvised masterpiece combining Afrocentric spiritual soul, jazz, poetry, amazing solos, a tasty bass line or two and more than a fair share of funky beats. It's also one of the earliest jazz albums to feature rapping. "I called the project Black Renaissance because that is what I wanted to see happen - especially in music. I describe it as Dixieland circa 1976 - by the end of the songs everyone is playing together."

Given its rarity, when asked if he was surprised that people knew about the album Whitaker jokes "I've told enough people about it over the years! Now they can actually hear it. It was a record before it's time. It's not a commercial release - I think of it as classical. You can call it jazz, but it's free, it's got African roots, it's for people who people who dig that sound."

Harry Whitaker has enjoyed a successful career as a producer, arranger and composer, cutting his teeth on the best of the Roy Ayers Ubiquity releases and making a living working closely with Roberta Flack - as her musical director, even playing on her big Eugene McDaniels' written hit "I Feel Like Makin' Love." Black Renaissance "Body, Mind, and Spirit," was his first attempt at a project where he wrote and composed the music and played keys on both tracks.

Originally released in 1977 and highly considered as one of the grail titles in the Spiritual Jazz, Jazz-Funk canon. Reissued by Luv N'Haight in 2002 with a limited pressing. This repress on black vinyl will be exclusive to RSD.

The late, great Terry Callier was an icon and inspiration to many; his work on Cadet Records with Charles Stepney and Elektra in the 70s made him a cult artist. After coming out of musical semi-retirement and returning to the stage in the 90s, Terry's light continued to shine, wowing both old and new audiences with the exquisite beauty his music and voice channelled.
Following his stunning performance at the 2008 Meltdown Festival, curated by Massive Attack, Terry teamed up with the legendary British trio, which resulted in �Hidden Conversations'. Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja co-wrote �Wings�, �John Lee Hooker', and �Live With Me�. The combination of Robert Del Naja�s haunting production and Terry�s captivating, emotive vocals fused beautifully. Urban Urbane is the fifth solo album from David J (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets), originally released on MCA Records in 1992. The album is a musical travelogue of sorts, with the initial recordings taking place in the tiny English village of Guilsborough, then London, New York and Los Angeles Aside from referencing those last three ports of call, the songs also name check New Orleans, Saint Petersburg and Memphis. It is a kind of collection of poetic snapshots from an itinerant drifter on the run.

The record is graced by contributions from a stellar cast of guest musicians including T Bone Burnett, Peter Murphy, Sonic Boom, Danny Thompson, Max Eider, The Uptown Horns and Charlie Giordano (E Street Band) amongst others. It was co-produced by the great Niko Bolas (Neil Young, Los Lobos etc).

"Fred Davis was a legend, but only in my living room. There was always music around my house, but as a teenager, I started digging deeper and deeper in to the blues records in my Dad's collection. That was when I started to get the Fred Davis story in fits and starts. Fred could play like T-Bone Walker and sang in a high, keen voice like J.B. Lenoir, he said. He used to front a jump band in Kansas City, before something went down that sent him to prison at Leavenworth. In the summer of 1967, he ended up working alongside my Dad at Harco, the Cleveland factory where my grandfather was an executive. They became friends, bonding over the B.B. King and Bobby Bland records blaring from the AM radio on the factory floor.

Fred taught my Dad the rudiments of blues guitar, but his style. Instead of barring with his first finger, he wrapped his thumb around the back of the neck. That left his other fingers free to create big, ringing voicings that imitated the Kansas City horn sections he heard in his youth. Fred could play up and down the neck and, even when he played and sang just by himself, he sounded like a full band. Or, at least, so the legend went. These were only foggy memories from thirty years previous, passed down from a father to a son.

But then we found the tape. A quarter inch reel in a plain white cardboard box, hiding on a shelf in the attic. My Dad explained how it came to exist: He found some friends (acquaintances really) who had a band and some equipment. They setup in my grandparents living room where the upright piano was, and he invited Fred over to record some of his songs with the band backing him up. Invited him over, to play loud music, in his boss�s living room. Sounds like something I would have done. The idea was that maybe if there were some recordings of Fred that he could use them to get booked on the nascent college blues-revival circuit, but it wasn�t to be.

We found a place nearby that could dub the tape and put it on a CD for us. When we finally got the transfer back, the legend became real. Fred really COULD sing like J.B. Lenoir and play like T-Bone Walker. He really DID have his own style. And that style had now been passed on to me. Without even realizing it, I had learned to play like Fred Davis. Even now, when I sit down to play the guitar or write a song and I wrap my thumb around the neck, I�m playing like he did. With this music now professionally transferred and remastered, I can only hope that Fred Davis can finally receive the acclaim that he deserves; that he never received in his lifetime. The legend can finally go behind the confines of my living room and, with any luck, to the whole world."

When Long Island MC Diabolic broke into the rap scene with a hidden verse on Immortal Technique�s 2001 album Revolutionary Volume 1, it was evident that his explosive, uncut rhyme style would be something underground circles could salivate over. However, despite his obvious prowess on the microphone, empty offers from labels in the beginning stages of his career left him no choice but to steer clear from commitment until the perfect opportunity arose. Group Therapy is the third studio album by American nu metal band Dope. The enhanced portion of the album contains a music video for each song. Group Therapy shows the band expanding on the more alternative metal style music the band had started on their previous album, Life, and most of the industrial style music has been toned down. The album contains some of the band's most heavy and aggressive songs while certain songs such as "Sing", "Another Day Goes By" and "Easier" show a softer, more melodic sound. In the second half of 2004 the album had already sold about 37,749 in United States. "Now is the Time" was used in an episode of Dog the Bounty Hunter.

For nearly thirty years El Quatro has been the premier purveyor of a gear grinding, nitrous injected, high octane brand of Iggy & The Stooges-inspired garage rock, known to fans as �rot-n-roll.� Drawing on apocryphal Americana, urban and suburban legend, tabloid news, and a dubious longing for the heyday of Detroit muscle, El Quatro represents a musical chapbook chronicling an empire in decline�with guitars. Forged in the fallout days of DC hardcore and hailing from Arlington VA El Quatro cut their teeth at the infamous O�Carroll�s in Arlington. The legendary shows gave rise to the Buzzkiller Sessions and the cassette-only release of the same name remains a sought after recording by fans. Throughout their career they have played extensively in the DC area under the mantra of �anytime, anywhere,� sharing the stage with bands as diverse as Esmerelda, The Pietasters, and History Repeated.

In the �90s and beyond they were a regular at Iota Club and Cafe in Arlington, which resulted in their magnum opus Live at Iota, recorded via a mobile twenty-four-track by Doug Derryberry and mixed by Mike Harvey at Actiondale Studio.

Recently they have been contributors to the Crooked Beat Record Store Day releases Recutting the Crap Vol I & II, and Songs from the Astral Plane, Vol I: A Tribute to Jonathan Richman, and they recorded seven original songs at the legendary Inner Ear in Arlington VA, one of the last bands to have worked there before Don Zientarra closed that space in October 2021..

The band has had various line-up changes over the years but the songwriting nucleus of Brad Wynn (guitar,) and Joel Lind (vocals,) remains constant. Completing the band is the rhythm section of Jim McNab (bass,) and Eric Kreinar (drums.) Together this constitutes the longest running and most faithful line up. Stylistically drawing from the hard and heavy bands of their adolescence and distilled in alembic of the modern world, El Quatro is the dirt under your nails, it is the perpetual beltway snarl, it is unrequited love�.it is the world of broken dreams made whole again by loud, unforgiving rock-n-roll. Treasures: Solo, Trio and Orchestra Recordings from Denmark (1965-1969) is a set of never-before-released recordings of jazz piano icon Bill Evans, taped with excellent sound quality either live or in Danish TV and Radio studios in the mid-to-late 1960s. Treasures is truly a �holy grail� discovery being released for the very first time as a limited-edition, 180g 3LP set. The beautifully designed package includes previously unpublished photos, insightful liner notes and interviews.

Much has been documented about the pioneering music that came out of the U.S. in the �60s and �70s, amid the social and political strife of the era. But the scene wasn�t just about the Summer of Love or Woodstock. There was another movement happening in the Latin neighborhoods of New York City as cultural barriers loosened. Beginning in the mid-�60s, musicians were filling clubs with an irresistible combination of soul, R&B and Afro-Cuban dance rhythms. By the turn of the decade, Latin music in the U.S. had evolved, often integrating socially conscious lyricism (in both English and Spanish), rock and funk influences, and a heavy dose of psychedelia. That sound is captured on Flash & The Dynamics� album The New York Sound, a rarity from the Fania Records vault. The 1971 album, which marks the band�s sole release, blends traditional Latin melodies with distorted guitars, soulful psychedelia and funky rhythms. Listeners will be transported to another era with jams like �Everybody�s Got Soul,� �Guajira Sicod�lica,� and the trippy instrumental �Electric Latin Soul.�

Returning to vinyl for the first time in decades, this reissue features all-analog remastering by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio and is pressed on 180-gram purple vinyl LP.
