It’s remarkable how much emotion De Souza squeezes out of a few decidedly simple phrases. All of This Will End encapsulates one of the North Carolina singer-songwriter’s other great skills, her ability to look back at parts of her life, even the darkest moments, with curiosity and gratitude, somehow transmuting those experiences into beautiful memories or, in this case, a wonderful album.

First Two Pages… is a more somber moment in The National’s catalogue, a carefully sculpted project, a level of fluidity and richness stitched together with the highest caliber of performance, production and songwriting. Like Frankenstein and his monster, the commitment to the design and blueprint of this record is incredible; every minute detail, sound, glitch, has been selected with the utmost care.

Warp

Yves Tumor continues their tradition of never doing exactly the same thing twice. Their third release for Warp channels the careening energy of Heaven to a Tortured Mind into concise -- but not confined -- songs that examine sensuality and spirituality and confidently subvert pop, rock, noise, electronic, and R&B. At once challenging and inviting, Praise a Lord… is another dazzling work from a creative whirlwind.

Firing up audiences on tour with the likes of At The Gates, Obituary and Municipal Waste, Richmond Virginia's Enforced take their spot as torchbearers for crossover thrash with War Remains. Mixed by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Kreator), War Remains is a classic in the making with riffs that rival Slayer at their most furious and thrash anthems that will cement Enforced's spot in the annals of metallic hardcore history.

Originally released in November ‘22, the stripped-back title track and EP opener, now expanded, explores Rapp’s desire to show up for the important people in her life. The release also boasts two new tracks including the single “Bruises,” an exploration of her love-hate relationship with being sensitive and easily wounded.

With its stylish, sonically detailed production, Dr. Dre's 1992 solo debut, The Chronic, transformed the entire sound of West Coast rap. The album’s comic song intros and skits became prerequisites for rap albums, plus Snoop Doog and Dre’s terrific chemistry ensured that even their foulest insults are cleverly turned. Both unreal and all too real. One of the greatest and most influential hip-hop albums of all time.

This is the quiet culmination of years spent fully immersed in a developing artistry, and presents Rose’s always vividly detailed emotional scenes with new levels of clarity and control. As with previous work, her songwriting transfigures the chaos and uncertainty of a life in progress, but here she introduces a newfound pop element that attaches unshakably catchy hooks to even the darkest stretches of the journey.

Star Eaters Delight is less of a uniform statement than Acquainted with Night was, but this collection of versatile songs acts as a tour of different neighborhoods in the beautifully smeary nocturnal dream world Neale began building on her last album. Neale has put together a tight package of an album with no stray notes but one also brimming with a sly multitude of ideas, something wholly different than anyone else out there.

Since their debut in 2013, Elena Tonra’s intimate, crushingly honest lyrics have been a lifeline for the band’s fans, whilst also finding a gateway to the likes of alternative giants Phoebe Bridgers and Bon Iver. Stereo Mind Game is warmly optimistic in tone, finding a lightness in Tonra’s poetry, whilst still desperately evoking an emotional resonance unmatched in the alternative space.
