Tim Blake - Blake's New Jerusalem [180 Gram] [Remastered] (Uk)

Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a newly remastered edition of the classic 1978 ambient masterpiece Blake's New Jerusalem by Tim Blake. Tim first came to prominence as a member of Gong, where his synthesizer experimentation and mastery was demonstrated on albums such as Flying Teapot, Angel's Egg and You. He would also join Hawkwind from 1979 - 1980 and from November 2007. After departing Gong in 1975 he teamed up with French lighting designer Patrice Warrener to form Crystal Machine, pioneering the use of lasers and synthesisers in a live setting. Blake's debut solo album, Crystal Machine, was originally released in 1977 on the French experimental label Egg. Tim followed this with arguably his finest work, Blake's New Jerusalem in 1978. Unlike his previous work, the album featured songs and the lengthy title-track would dominate the album's second side. New Jerusalem also featured the guest appearance of Jean-Philippe Rykiel on mini-moog. Tim Blake would later perform both Lighthouse and New Jerusalem as a member of Hawkwind when he joined the band the following year.

Manfred Manns Earth Band - Manfred Mann'S Earth Band

Vinyl LP pressing. The eponymous debut studio album by Manfred Mann's Earth Band was released in January 1972 to much critical acclaim. An exceptional-sounding record, it showed the band utilizing the recording studio to full advantage at the time, while marking a new phase for Manfred Mann as he assembled a band musically superior to other British hard rock and blues influenced groups of the early seventies. While still a couple years away from pop radio success, most notably their version of Blinded By The Light, the Earth Band's debut wad a solid foundation to a career that continues to this day. Manufactured on heavy duty vinyl and remastered, the album is being released under the "Artist Approved" banner, i.e. it is issued with the full approval of the featured artists.

Don Airey - One Of A Kind [LP]

Don Airey s discography is definitely one of the most impressive for any British musician. It is hard to find a name between all those that in the last 30 years have left a mark in the history of rock that has not worked with him at some point. To name the most obvious of Don Airey s associations: Ozzy Osbourne, Rainbow, Whitesnake, Judas Priest, Gary Moore, Brian May, Uriah Heep, Black Sabbath and, obviously, Deep Purple, the band Don Airey has been a full time member of, for over ten years. Don Airey has never been a session player. Bands and artists have worked with him for his unique musical vision, for the twist he could give to songs. Albums like Rainbow s Down To Earth or Ozzy Osbourne s Bark At The Moon would not have been the same without Airey s chord progressions, solos and his skill to play for the team .It is not difficult to see Don Airey playing with Deep Purple in front of 15.000 people one day, and the next day playing the organ in the church of his beloved local village with the same
concentration and respect for the music and the audience. It is with the same spirit that Don shows no particular effort when moving from the glories of the last two Deep Purple albums (NOW What?! and Infinite , both having benefitted from his very present talent) and the work in clubs with his own band. Always with a big smile on his face as soon as the guitar roars, he is waiting to reply with his Hammond.

One Of A Kind is just that a true classic hard rock gem displaying great melodies, great riffs, great solos and a unique band unity. It has also been recorded using the spirit of a band and therefore features talented prominent band members. Carl Sentence (from the current line-up of British legends Nazareth) is a singer that all fans of rough voices like Rob Halford and Graham Bonnet would love. Laurence Cottle, who has played with Don in the Gary Moore band makes a great rhythm section together with the thunderous talent of Jon Finnegan, evidently loud on stage as much as in life. Last but definitely not least, the incredible talent of Simon McBride, who shows no fear of being compared to the many incredible guitar players Don has played with before. Simon was also part of Ian Gillan s band, together with Don - during the recent tour in East Europe. One song after the other quenches every hard rock fan s thirst, who would make a capital mistake to overlook this album. Available on 2 CD Jewel/180 Gram Vinyl and Digital.

Art Alexakis - Sun Songs [LP]

Some 25 years into his career as a recording artist, ART ALEXAKIS— best-known as the singer-guitarist and sole songwriter behind the iconic alt-rock outfit EVERCLEAR—has started a new chapter in his remarkably prolific career, now as a solo artist. Writing songs and performing all instruments on his own, Alexakis recently began working on compositions that will comprise his first-ever solo album, which he intends to unveil in 2019 via The End Records/BMG. A key driver for Alexakis’ solo initiative has been the work/rehearsal/recording space he recently constructed near his home in Southern California. The singer-guitarist—who’s also a husband and father— enjoys an inspiring work-life balance that allows him to conveniently create whenever he likes, quickly shifting back and forth between the studio and home. He uses his studio HQ—which is also Everclear’s rehearsal space—to frequently collaborate with co-producer/engineer Stuart Schenk (Invisible Stars), who is helping Alexakis develop his still-forming solo material. For several years Alexakis has been performing solo shows, dubbed “Songs and Stories,” where the singer-songwriter plays stripped-down acoustic versions of past favorites, while also offering the audiences tales and anecdotes pertaining to those compositions. He says he hopes to showcase new solo material at upcoming acoustic shows, but future live solo performances may expand upon that concept, with backing musicians potentially helping Alexakis recreate the diverse sounds he’s now exploring as a solo artist. Creating outside of the Everclear realm also gives Alexakis the chance to explore styles and sounds that don’t necessarily work for his band. His solo work will continue to push the boundaries of what you can expect from an Art Alexakis composition, as no direction or source of inspiration is really off the table. He cites everything from the Hamilton soundtrack to the great acoustic singer-songwriters as influences for his own writing.

Nazareth - Fool Circle

Vinyl LP pressing. The Fool Circle is the twelfth studio album by Scottish hard rock band Nazareth, released in February 1981. The Fool Circle is notable for a reggae sound on many of the songs. In an interview bassist Pete Agnew commented: "Fool Circle was the nearest we came to making a concept album, trying to inject a bit of humor into a pretty heavy subject. I think the fact that we recorded it on the island of Montserrat might account for a teeny bit of reggae poking it's way through."

Angel Pavement - Socialising With Angel Pavement

180 gram 12" vinyl plus bonus 7" single, featuring extensive sleevenotes. Active for roughly four years at the end of the Sixties, Angel Pavement released just two singles in their lifetime - 'Baby You've Gotta Stay' b/w 'Green Mello Hill' in October 1969, followed by 'Tell Me What I've Got To Do' b/w 'When Will I See June Again' in January 1970. Despite numerous high-quality recordings being made at Morgan Studios in Willesden, north-west London, the group failed to obtain a release for their intended album, Socialising With Angel Pavement. Here we reconstruct that LP - initially slated to appear in August 1970 - for the first time.

Peter Howell & John Ferdinando - Ithaca, Agincourt And Other Psych-Folk Fairy Tales [RSD 2019]

If one is aware of high prices on online music sites or is a part of any worldwide record collectors' circles, albums from groups such as Ithaca and Agincourt might sound familiar. Producers, composers, singers and multi-instrumentalists Peter Howell and John Ferdinando are two English musicians who started their partnership in the mid-1960s. From 1968, with the release of their soundtrack for the play Alice Through The Looking Glass, until the release of a project called Friends in 1974, they put together a total of five albums, Ithaca (1973) and Agincourt (1970) being the two most expensive and collectable of all of them. Incredibly rare and highly sought-after for years, the records contained a magical world brimming with folk music, soft psychedelia, psych-pop and progressive overtones; their music is absolutely exquisite and truly unique. It is predominantly folk, but very far from its traditional format. The longer one listens to their legacy, the longer one is going to find peculiar elements of classical gestures plus many flourishes of soft psychedelia, idiosyncratic progressive overtones, acid-folk and a taste that one is always entering the enchanting toy world of psych-pop. It does make total sense that the word "cult" is frequently applied to describe their creations. On Ithaca, Agincourt And Other Psych-Folk Fairy Tales (a 21 track double LP accompanied by a 19 track CD of totally distinct material), one also has the chance to read their own words. Both of them were interviewed for the liner notes, where they reveal their secret influences and their simple but unexpected ways of creating and composing. Be subtle, be daring, and be immersed in the magic world of Peter Howell and John Ferdinando.

Power Of Zeus - The Gospel According To Zeus

Seminal funk-rock album originally released on Rare Earth in 1970. Featuring the monster breakbeat on 'The Sorcerer Of Isis'. Formed in Detroit in 1968, Power of Zeus became the first rock band to be signed by Motown subsidiary label, Rare Earth. The group drew inspiration from British hard rock and heavy metal giants like Cream, Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin when they created this well-produced, seminal post-hard rock album. After 'The Gospel According to Zeus', the group never made another album and slipped into obscurity, until it was discovered by the hip hop diggers. The drum beat from "Sorcerer of Isis" has been one of the most sampled in hip-hop music, including KRS-One, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Cyprus Hill, Tribe Called Quest and Eminem to name a few. Half-speed mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, London. Transferred from 2 x 1/4" analog reels at 192kHz/24-bit. Official Mr Bongo reissue. Released for Record Store 2019.

Blood, Sweat & Tears - Blood Sweat & Tears 4

Limited 180gm audiophile vinyl LP pressing in special tri-fold jacket. Includes printed inner sleeve. Blood, Sweat & Tears' fourth album B, S & T: 4 was written by different band members. The record peaked at #10 on the Billboard Pop albums chart and two singles made their way into the Pop singles chart. The tracks are generally shorter compared to their previous albums. The band moved a little bit to the mainstream direction, offering some impressive performances. Their musical style is still a mix of rock, blues, jazz and folk. The warm atmosphere is recognisable and it is great from beginning to the piano led end, a charming, energetic and lively album. In their almost 50-years of existence Blood, Sweat & Tears covered a lot of famous songs by James Taylor, The Band and The Rolling Stones, among others. They also incorporated different music from artists like Thelonious Monk and Sergei Prokofiev in their songs.

Popguns - Love Junky [Record Store Day]

Love Junky was originally released in 1995 and was The Popguns' third studio album, marking a departure in style away from the more frantic C86 (1986) style featured on their previous albums and sessions. Fans have always loved them for their strong song writing, energetic guitar power-pop and the rich, emotive vocals of lead singer Wendy Morgan.

David Gray - Gold In A Brass Age [2LP]

David Gray announces details for the release of his new album, Gold In A Brass Age. This marks his 11th studio album which is set for release on March 8, 2019. Gold In A Brass Age was produced by Ben DeVries, son of producer and soundtrack composer Marius. The album finds Gray in renewed creative form and arrives just ahead of a run of headline shows in the US and UK. Gold In A Brass Age is defined by an intuitive approach from Gray, exploring new electronic textures and sound palettes, along with new production techniques in the process. David began writing Gold In A Brass Age in 2016 and it was recorded over several months between tours, including a 50 date US tour and a co-headline tour with Alison Krauss in 2017. Using a cut and paste approach to the arrangement of songs, the album's atmospheric and experimental undertones are evident throughout.

Jerry Butler - Moon River [Limited 180-Gram Vinyl]

Offering a solid introduction into this man's special brand of soul (his charm, passionate delivery, musical feeling, gospel background, sentimental mood renderings and R&B innovation), this release includes one of Jerry Butler's most overlooked albums from the onset of his solo career on the Vee-Jay label: Moon River. It was originally issued in 1962, and has been long unavailable on vinyl.

Manfred Mann - Radio Days Vol. 1: Live At The Bbc 1964-66

Double vinyl LP pressing. Radio Days - The Paul Jones Era is the first complete collection of existing BBC recordings made by the original Manfred Mann lineup with vocalist Paul Jones between 1964 and 1966. The band join legendary BBC presenter Brian Matthew through the rapidly changing music styles and environment of the mid-'60s. The sessions also feature another legend, bassist Jack Bruce, who was previously with The Graham Bond Organisation and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. After his stint with Manfred Mann, Bruce would go on to form Cream with Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker. His presence in the group is highlighted on "Long Hair, Unsquare Dude Called Jack" never before officially available. "Radio Days" also includes group and individual interviews. Compiled from BBC recordings featured on the programs "Saturday Swings," "Saturday Club," "Top Gear," Swing Into Summer" and "Pop Inn," this "Radio Days" collection is a fascinating look into how one of the UK's most respected sixties bands promoted their current and upcoming releases and cultivated their fan base. Manfred Mann achieved this by performing new studio versions of their HMV label output along with some unique, BBC-only performances.

Manfred Mann - Radio Days Vol. 2: Live At The Bbc 1966-69

Triple vinyl LP pressing. The second volume of Manfred Mann's BBC recordings, Radio Days - The Mike d'Abo Era, covers the band's Fontana label hitmaking from 1966-1969. The band lineup on this release includes Manfred Mann (keyboards), Mike d'Abo (vocals/piano), Mike Hugg (drums/vibes/piano), Tom McGuinness (guitar), and Klaus Voormann (bass). Highly regarded BBC host Brian Matthew expertly follows the band's development through their increasingly complex pop confections while keeping their sense of humor intact. For such a rapidly changing music environment, Manfred Mann's BBC radio appearances with Brian Matthew and other influential hosts such as John Peel, David Symonds and Tony Brandon, would prove to be essential to the success of their singles. Volume two spotlights the "Saturday Club," "Easy Beat" and "Top Gear" sessions aired on the BBC's "Top Of The Pops" transcription series hosted by Brian Matthew, and some extremely rare off-air recordings have also been included. The changing landscape of 1960s music led the various members of Manfred Mann to record production, songwriting, recording of film scores, commercial jingles and also artist management - all the while continuing to create band recordings. Many of these pursuits are documented in Brian Matthew's incisive interviews. With one exception ("Mighty Quinn"), none of these BBC tracks have been released commercially before.

In celebration of their 30th anniversary Thunder revisit and reinterpret a selection of their finest songs in a way you've never heard them before. Joe Henry - The Gospel According To Water [LP]

Recording artist, songwriter and 4 time grammy winning producer Joe Henry returns with his 15th studio album as a solo act.

Recorded in just two days in June 2019, and fairly by accident as the intent was to record demos of thirteen new songs.

With only a handful of friends playing in support, Joe entered the studio and tore through these songs with determination and abandon, then went home. The next day he listened and understood that something had transpired that was more than he had bargained for; that the songs as recorded sparked an ember that somehow remained bright and alive before him, moving beyond any sense of expectation he may have held.

The songs were heard as complete and vividly so; the casual circumstances had not limited his expression but in fact liberated him from the cloying aim for posterity that can make weighty any session—and landed him instead in a place both unencumbered by the past and unattached to futures.

These recordings are raw and wirey and spare because the songs insisted they be. In Joe’s mind, these are as “produced”––as anything he's touched, as well as being deeply and fundamentally romantic: accordingly in love with life.

Gang Of Four - Happy Now

Pioneering post-punk band, the Gang of Four were formed in the bricolage punk rock fallout culture of late seventies Leeds - a place where art was a mirror and guitars were machine guns. Gang of Four tore up the template and made sense of the question marks thrown up by year zero. They redesigned rock in the punk aftermath, taking the incendiary energy of the form and crisscrossing it with funk, stripping away the baggage of rock excess and creating a new stripped-down music that was full of agit energy, heavy grooves, shrapnel guitars and politically charged lyrics matching the fervour of the times. Swerving trad rock rhythms, the beats were invented from scratch and every instrument played a pivotal role in the sound in a non-hierarchical structure. In short, they came up with post punk. The band then bounced around the music business releasing a series of albums that have been a direct inspiration to a diverse selection of bands who wanted to deconstruct rock music without losing it's sense of excitement, from the surrounding post-punk generation to the big bands that followed. The Red Hot Chili Peppers, INXS, R.E.M., U2, Rage Against the Machine, Nirvana and Massive Attack have all spoken of their debt to Gang of Four. More recently, the band's influence has become almost universal-now everybody talks about Gang of Four. From Franz Ferdinand to St Vincent, from Sleater Kinny and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem to Nine Inch Nails: today's creators of angular rock music have GO4's influence and imprint all over them. The band is reaching an urban audience with Frank Ocean sampling them on his latest album and Pharrell name-checking the band in his interviews. Inevitably GO4 disbanded in 1984 but reformed later that decade, since then releasing a series of albums that emphatically demonstrate their capacity for invention and twisting energy. The line-up now includes Thomas McNeice-the bass player joined in 2008-and John 'Gaoler' Sterry, who has supplied vocals since 2011.

Simple Minds - Grafitti Soul

Limited 180gm red vinyl LP pressing. In 2005, Simple Minds announced that Graffiti Soul had been written on location in Rome, Sicily, Antwerp and Glasgow. On it's release in May 2009, the album reached #10 in the UK albums chart. The two bonus tracks include the band's version of Neil Young's "Rockin' In The Free World".

Jimmy Somerville - Manage The Damage

Limited 180gm white vinyl LP pressing with printed inner sleeve. The third solo album from Bronski Beat and Communards vocalist, Jimmy Somerville. To mark the 20th anniversary, Manage The Damage is issued on vinyl for the first time. Nicolette Larson - Nicolette

Limited 180gm audiophile vinyl LP pressing. 1978 US Top 20 album from the late and much acclaimed Larson. Features the Top 10 hit 'Lotta Love'. Chris & Cosey - Heartbeat [11/9]

2019 repress on purple vinyl. Originally released to much acclaim in 1981 by Rough Trade, Heartbeat was the first in a long line of groundbreaking albums by Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti. This early example of Chris & Cosey features cut-up sampled voices, Cosey's disto-guitar, industrial sequences, melodious synths, and cinematic sweeps. Includes a 12" B/W double-sided insert of archive photos, clippings, and texts. "There are moments of great beauty like 'Moorby' and, equally, many moments of sheer depravity all performed with Kraftwerk's cultured class and the hypnotic charm and deadly grace of a synthesised cobra." -Steve Sutherland (Melody Maker, 1982)"All the world loves a love story? but Heartbeat still has an edge of evil among the extensions of the pair's established scenarios." -Sandy Robertson (Sounds, 1981)

Gary Duncans Quicksilver - Live At Fieldstone

Undoubtedly, Quicksilver Messenger Service along with Jefferson Airplane and Grateful Dead build up the first row of the West Coast Sound of the Psychedelic Era of the late 1960's! One of the highlights of each jam of the band was the crackling interaction between guitarists John Cipollina and Gary Duncan, who lashed each other to spacey heights, exemplary listening to the band's masterpiece "Happy Trails." What an album! John Cipollina has long been dead, but Gary Duncan continued the project under his name starting in the 1990s, recruiting interesting Bay Area musicians and making them one of the most popular jam bands again. The recordings of this record were made in 1997 in Fieldstone, CA and show Duncan and his Quicksilver Band once again immensely playful. The long, sprawling jams (between 8:34 and 15:46 minutes) range from classic West Coast rock to jazz and fusion. They are tangible songs that capture the sun and the special way of life in California and transfer it to the listener. Just like back then! Gary Duncan had been very pleased that Sireena Records turned to him and proposed to release these recordings on vinyl for the first time. He was already very ill at the time of the contact and died unfortunately on 29 June at the age of 72 years. Dedicated to his memory, this record is reminiscent of a wonderful man who had the hippie thought deep inside him - and a guitarist who was without any doubt one of the greats of his time!

Leo Sayer - Selfie [Colored Vinyl] (Uk)

Limited colored vinyl LP pressing. 2019 release. In a career spanning 45 years, Leo Sayer has sold more than 80 million records worldwide. Leo wanted to make an album by himself and with the technology now available, he was in lock-down at his home studio in Australia. The result is Selfie, a great album full of great songs with some incredibly thought-provoking lyrics. This project has been overseen creatively by Leo Sayer, who remains one of the UK's great singer/songwriters of all time.

Hailing from Wales, Spencer Davis founded the famed Spencer Davis Group in 1963, producing a dozen top 10 hit songs, including 'Gimme Some Lovin', 'Somebody Help Me', 'I'm a Man' and 'Keep On Runnin', helping to bring British rock 'n roll to the rest of the world.

Shawn Lee - Ride Again

"Rides Again" has been in the making for a few years, Shawn Lee explains: "Yes, this record has had quite a long gestation period. The opening song 'Wichita' was written and recorded way back in 2007!" With every passing year Lee vowed to write and record more songs with a 'Country' feeling in view of finishing a complete album, but always got too busy with other projects. 2019 arrived and the American born and London based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, arranger and filmmaker decided that the time was now. Recorded and arranged very quickly in stolen hours from other recording and touring commitments. The songs came together intuitively and organically. "This is a very reflective and personal album. I am looking back to my childhood in Wichita/Kansas and thinking about where I'm at the present moment and the idea of an unwritten future. I could have only made this album at this point of my life", Shawn Lee says. Musically Country & Soul music share common vocabulary and "Rides Again" illustrates this in it's own personal way. "I was inspired by people like Tony Joe White, JJ Cale, Glen Campbell, Rob Galbraith and Hoover to name but a few. I grew up with Country music all around me and it only makes sense that some of that fused in my musical DNA." Recorded in London at Shawn Lee's studio by long time engineer Pierre Duplan, it features Shawn playing all most all of the instrumentals with haunting pedal steel by Joe Harvey-Whyte, Carwyn Ellis (The Pretenders, Edwyn Collins) on keyboards in two songs plus Andy Ross on saxophone and Everton Nelson on violin on one song. "I'm really proud of this record and damn glad I finally finished it!" Definitely: Shawn Lee is 'still on the line'.

Parson Jones - Clear As Day

Vinyl LP pressing. 2019 release. The band Parson Jones is singer-songwriter Joshua Hollenstein and multi-instrumentalist and producer Kerry Fogarty. On their debut single for the French label Underdog Records, the duo was singing non-standard rhymes. One could hear a mixture of soul and psychedelic pop, a meeting between OutKast and Grizzly Bear, groovy and hippie. Without demonstration of style, Parson Jones thus envisages the music which make the buttocks dance and the brain meditate. Inspired by Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Curtis Mayfield, Al Green and Creedence Clearwater revival; it does not matter if the dressing is funk, rock, pop, soul, psychedelic, if the tone is euphoric or melancholic: it's the great and beautiful score of timeless pop music played by Parson Jones.

"It's about this guy that's living in a luxury expansive glass apartment overlooking the city, filled with sculptures and beautiful things, an empty soulless shell, surrounded by absurd wealth," Almond explains. "He is sitting alone and I imagine listening to this music, possibly the songs that make up this album. He's rich in the bank but the poorest person you know." 2017 cements the 60th Birthday year for the singer who the Observer noted, "has never stood still" and follows on the great success of his Top 10 album Hits And Pieces.

Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a newly remastered edition of the classic 1978 ambient masterpiece Blake's New Jerusalem by Tim Blake. He would also join Hawkwind from 1979 - 1980 and from November 2007.

Known for their captivating blend of rock & roll and country, they have become one of Americana music's biggest success stories: an internationally-renowned band of roots-rockers, armed with songs that blur the boundaries between the genres. They are a mainstay on radio and album sales charts, with a sound that is as powerful in the quieter moments as it is explosive during the jubilant ones. The band's pared down configuration has resulted in a bigger, deeper sound built on undeniable chemistry, lush three-part harmonies, and instrumental virtuosity with a funky edge.

Not only topically relevant in 2019, The Medicine Show further solidifies Etheridge’s in the current music scene and reminds us why Etheridge has remained one of America’s favorite female singer-songwriters for more than two decades.

Ace Of Cups - Ace Of Cups [LP]

Ace Of Cups, the beloved all-women rock group from the late 60s Haight-Ashbury psychedelic scene, will release their self-titled, debut studio album on November 9th via High Moon Records. The record features contributions from friends like Bob Weir (Grateful Dead), Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady (Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna), Taj Mahal, Buffy Sainte-Marie, and many more. During their original run from 1967 to 1972, Ace of Cups - Mary Gannon (bass), Marla Hunt (organ, piano), Denise Kaufman (guitar, harmonica), Mary Ellen Simpson (guitar), and Diane Vitalich (drums) - wrote and sang together as one of the area's first all-women bands, and they were known throughout the Bay Area for their instrumental mastery and social commentary-driven rock n roll; Jimi Hendrix even gave them a shout out in Melody Maker after they opened for him at Golden Gate Park. The band never officially recorded any music, and their only release was a 2003 compilation of informal recordings. Ace Of Cups is the first proper showcase of the band's freewheeling spirit that blends multi-colored rock with elements of roots and folk.

The Dandy Warhols - Why You So Crazy [LP]

Vinyl LP pressing. The release of their tenth studio album, Why You So Crazy sees The Dandy Warhols return in singularly freewheeling fashion, careening through classically off-kilter psych-pop ("Be Alright"), high country-fried Americana ("Motor City Steel"), and gothic piano-propelled rumbas ("Forever"). Packing in references as far flung as Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Don MacLean's Chevy, and the church of Bowie's "Modern Love," these 12 songs reflect the band's surrealist visions of an alternate reality. Offering an escape from a culture driven to the brink, The Dandy Warhols are progressing into the next chapter of their self-described "25 year act of sonic rebellion."

ork - Ramagehead

Vinyl LP pressing. A band of rock legends and some of contemporary music's most revered creators, O.R.k. have combined forces once again for a new studio album and first for the ground-breaking UK label Kscope. The band are: Lef (lead vocals), King Crimson's Pat Mastelotto (drums), Porcupine Tree's Colin Edwin (bass), Marta Sui Tubi's Carmelo Pipitone (guitars) and extra special guest and Grammy Award-winner Serj Tankian of System of a Down (vocals), who is undoubtedly one of metal's greatest and most renowned vocalists. Ramagehead is a product of the band's collective mutual vision, unique influences and a multi-layered reflection of their powerful and engaging live experience. The recordings, and inclusion of Tankian, announces the band's serious intent to use their individual musical chemistry in exploring the hard-edged possibilities within rock. The album was written following their headline European tour in support of second studio album Soul of an Octopus and is a distillation of their live performances. The result contains all the ingredients of a fiery O.R.k. performance with dark and heavy riffing, mesmeric atmospheres and lyrics that reveal the band's bewilderment brought about by our modern world: a world of information overload, of uncertainty and post-truth messages.

Witch - Salem's Rise

The inaugural release in Gotta Groove Records' OH Wax series is the 1985 album by Dayton, Ohio's Witch - entitled Salem's Rise, originally self-released through the label Eargasm Productions. Notes from original executive producer and founder of Eargasm Records, Tim Grogean: Ted George and I were introduced in 1984 when he came to my studio in Dayton Ohio asking me to Produce a single for him. He was a shredding guitarist and song writer from Versailles Ohio. Ted yearned to write an album and I was looking for a project to present to larger Record companies in LA and NY. Songwriting and rehearsals started in Versailles Ohio, many nights jamming in the basement of brothers Tony and Dave Chappie. Tony on drums and Dave on Bass were completed by Ted and vocalist Ace Mathews. Pre-production was done at Eargasm studios. Many of long nights and heavy parties ensued for then next month as the band hammered out the 10 songs on Witch "Salem's Rise". The instruments fell in very solid with Ted's fast guitar work and solid rhythm section. The recording at Audio Productions in New Carlisle Ohio had Tim and Mike Niklas engineering. Tim was the Executive Producer as well as assisted in song writing and guitar. It was Mastered at QCA in Cincinnati, Ohio (where it was also originally manufactured on vinyl as well). Tony Chappie and I wrote the drum solo and incomparable pianist Larry "LD" Hampshire again came to Ted's side for the keyboards. Most of the musicians involved continued to play and record to this day. Ted went on to front many bands and work with artists like Rick Derringer. He is now known as "Fast Eddie" due to his freakish speed on the guitar. The Chappie brothers eventually became businessmen, and less is known about the future for singer Ace Mathews. "LD" continued to play in bands with Tim and record in Dayton area studio's. I went on to work with bands like Rush, Sponge, Days of the New, Sun; and I continue to record and tour in my band Amplified.

Adam's House Cat - Town Burned Down [Yellow LP]

Limited yellow vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. Archive release. Before Drive-By Truckers, Mike Cooley and Patterson Hood formed Adam's House Cat in the Muscles Shoals-area of Alabama in 1985. Their songs and friendship was the foundation on which DBT was built. This lost album recorded in 1990 has never before been released. It was remixed by Dave Barbe and mastered by Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound. While Cooley and Hood may have founded Drive-By Truckers in 1996, the two musicians had in fact first come together more than a decade prior. They met on August 1, 1985, the day Hood moved into a dank basement apartment in North Florence, AL shared by Cooley. The two young musicians took notice of each other's guitars and became fast friends, drinking cheap beer and singing songs together on the flat's shabby couch.

The Flesh Eaters - I Used To Be Pretty [2LP]

One of Los Angeles punk rock’s most widely admired yet little-heard bands makes a striking return to records on Jan. 18, as Yep Roc Records issues an all-new collection by The Flesh Eaters, I Used to Be Pretty. On the release, founding vocalist and songwriter Chris Desjardins — better known as Chris D. — is backed by the legendary “all-star” edition of the band, originally heard on the 1981 set A Minute to Pray, A Second to Die: Dave Alvin (guitar) and Bill Bateman (drums) of the Blasters; John Doe (bass) and D.J. Bonebrake (marimba and percussion) of X; and Steve Berlin (saxophones) of the Plugz (and later the Blasters and Los Lobos). The album was produced collectively by the band members.

Alex Chilton - From Memphis To New Orleans [LP]

Some know Alex Chilton as the lead singer of the Boxtops who had a number one hit in 1967 with “The Letter,” others know him from the majestic Beatlesque pop of Big Star or as the name in a song by the Replacements (“Children by the millions sing of Alex Chilton…”) Others know him as the songwriter of the theme song for That 70s Show. He was at the height of his cult star fame in the mid 1980s when he made these recordings. It is some of his best most honest work oddly neglected for some time but delivered here for enthusiasts and neophytes alike. Includes B-A-B-Y, Guantanaamerika, Let Me Get Close to You and many more.

Alex Chilton - Songs From Robin Hood Lane [LP]

Alex Chilton, lead singer for the Boxtops and Big Star made these recordings of jazz standards in the 1990s. Many he heard in the 1950s growing up in a house full of music on a street called Robin Hood Lane in Memphis, Tennessee. Included are many rare and previously unreleased songs from the Great American Songbook: "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying," "Time After Time," and "My Baby Just Cares For Me."

A professional at twenty, he played with Charlie Musselwhite, Canned Heat, the Rolling Stones, and John Mayall before starting a solo career. Mandel is one of the first rock guitarists to use two-handed fretboard tapping. His first record was the album Stand Back! Here Comes Charley Musselwhite's Southside Band in 1966 with Charlie Musselwhite.

Belle Adair - Tuscumbia [LP]

The breezy jangle of "Get Away," the opening track off Belle Adair's striking new album, Tuscumbia, might not be the first thing you'd expect to hear from an Alabama band named after a John Steinbeck reference. Combining mellow, atmospheric rock and swirling, retro power-pop, it's more Big Star than Swampers, but it's an ideal gateway into the blissed-out world of Belle Adair, a group that manages to make even worry and isolation sound inviting. Recorded at Muscle Shoals' legendary FAME Studios with Wilco producer/engineer Tom Schick, Tuscumbia calls to mind everything from The Byrds to Teenage Fanclub as frontman Matthew Green's meditative lyrics navigate a slew of major life changes, contemplate the meaning of home, and grapple with the realities of life on the road.

Bells Atlas - The Mystic [LP]

Bells Atlas’ latest offering the mystic digs further into their soulful buoyancy to explore both sound and storytelling. Sandra Lawson-Ndu, Douglas Stuart, Geneva Harrison, and Derek Barber stumbled upon a new process for songwriting-- of which included sampling grainy phone recordings of the band's drummer -- that elevates Bells Atlas’ already unique approach to psychedelic R&B. The spontaneity of the mystic’s creative process results in a raw, cosmic sound that is mirrored in its lyrics. The record is a sci-fi fantasy of two first-generation Nigerian American women coming to terms with a mental health diagnosis, and at the same time, a very universal exploration of how we make sense of reality. “It’s about a truth seeker and a skeptic trying to make sense of what’s mystical and what’s clinical,” frontwoman Sandra Lawson-Ndu says. The listener is made to consider the possibility of magic. Is it possible, for instance, that someone who navigates the world differently may have a deeper understanding of the universe? The mystic is a spectrum of deep emotionality, impulse, and even humour; a tool to explore the full dimension of our reality.

Cup - Spinning Creature [LP]

CUP is the duo of Nels Cline (the guitarist/composer best known for his work with Wilco) and Yuka C Honda (the composer/keyboardist/programmer best known for her work with Cibo Matto). Combining aspects of electronica, folk, improvisation, and some heated rocking, this debut recording'perhaps predictably'defies easy categorization. But fear not! Contained within this package is a sometimes sweet, sometimes jarring, but always compelling excursion into what a shared sensibility sounds like, and after taking the journey that is 'Spinning Creature' it all feels just right as CUP's music veers from the accessible to the abstract and back. This balance is what CUP music is all about. Nels and Yuka (who are married, by the way) even sing a little here and there as they enter their singular sound world. And now you can enter it, too!

Mavis Staples - If All I Was Was Black [LP]

“Mavis has done it all and worked with just about everybody from Bob Dylan to Prince to Jeff Tweedy… She still is singing for justice and equality and influencing a new generation of musicians and fans.” -PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA

MAVIS STAPLES is an American Music legend. She was at the forefront of the civil rights movement in the 1960’s, as singer for the legendary gospel group, The Staples Singers. Mavis, along with her father, Pops, and siblings marched and worked alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr on the fight for equality in this country.

In December 2016, Mavis went to Washington, DC to receive the coveted Kennedy Center Honors from President Obama, with whom she has had a long standing friendship. Mavis invited Wilco frontman and dear friend, Jeff Tweedy as her guest for the weekend’s festivities. The two spent hours discussing the current events and how today’s fight for equality is very similar to those in the 60’s. Inspired by these events, Mavis and Jeff got together and wrote Mavis’ new album, If All I Was Was Black, produced by Jeff Tweedy. The new album is a perfect message for our time and is by far Mavis’ best work to date.

Mindy Gledhill - Rabbit Hole [LP]

'Rabbit Hole' is Mindy Gledhill's 2019 album. It was produced by Mindy's longtime collaborator Joe Corcoran and mixed by Brian Malouf (Michael Franti, Dave Matthews, Madonna, Queen) and David Kahne (Regina Spektor, Imogen Heap, Lana Del Rey, Paul McCartney). The album opens with "Rabbit Hole", a beautiful and intimate musical articulation of internal struggle and continues with the playfully tongue-in-cheek "Boo Hoo!", the lush and ethereal "Wandering Souls", and the gorgeous acoustic ballad "Bluebird". "Lines", "Wild Card", and "Cosmic Kiss" shine with infectious pop melodies, while Mindy shows off her Spanish-language fluency on "Adiós Cariño".

Keuning - Prismism [Indie Exclusive Limited Edition LP]

Prismism examines our basic relationships and interactions, with family, friends and co-workers, how one can feel trapped by their surroundings, as well as those that rely on them, emotionally and/or professionally. It applies to Dave's difficulties in reconciling his domestic and career choices and finds the solution in the very thing that brought him here in the first place -- the music. Combining both acoustic and electric guitars, as well as a longtime fascination with keyboards and electronic music -- which he wasn't able to explore as much as he would've liked in The Killers -- Keuning has created a psychic diary that allows us to connect the dots and learn what brought him to a career crossroads.

Robbie Robertson - Sinematic [2LP]

Sinematic is an enthralling set of songs that explore the darker corridors of human nature. The 13 song collection, is his first since 2011’s How To Become Clairvoyant and themes sprang from his recent film scoring for Martin Scorsese’s organized crime pic, The Irishman and his forthcoming documentary Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band. The album features guest stars such as Van Morrison, Glen Hansard, and many more.

Atlantaeum Flood - One Day [LP]

Atlantæum Flood is a unique instrumental five-piece collective featuring Marty Willson-Piper (ex- The Church and All About Eve). Their debut album One Day is both epic and eclectic, fusing world music influences with elements of folk and progressive rock. Ranging from subtle ethereal moments with dreamy 12-string guitars to dynamic, powerful intensity with soaring lead lines against a percussive backdrop, the eight track release is a beautifully cohesive and considered cinematic soundscape. Atlantæum Flood is Steve & Lynne Knott, Marty & Olivia Willson-Piper and Dare Mason

Nine Shrines - Retribution Therapy [Red LP]

Cleveland, Ohio quintet NINE SHRINES arose on the scene in 2014 from the ashes of aggressive 00’s Ohio band pedigree: drummer Andrew Wetzel (Attack Attack!), bassist Devon Voisine and lead guitarist Andrew Baylis, (Life on Repeat), rhythm guitarist Even McKeever (Downplay), and singer Chris Parketny (Strangers to Wolves). Nine Shrines grew from their previous efforts to build something powerful. Their new album, Retribution Therapy, sees a band truly coming into their own. Sharing the stage with Volbeat, Halestorm, Chimaira, Shinedown, All That Remains, and Nonpoint made waves nationwide. It’s all given rise to the intensity of Retribution Therapy. Retribution Therapy was produced by Dan Korneff (My Chemical Romance,I Prevail, Pierce The Veil, All that Remains, Papa Roach).

Darrin Bradbury - Talking Dogs & Atom Bombs [LP]

Darrin Bradbury writes about the way things really are in America – a singular perspective shaped by a natural gift for storytelling and a sly sense of humor. A self-described folk satirist who has toured the country for more than a decade, Bradbury collects his oddball observations in his newest album, Talking Dogs & Atom Bombs. Bradbury grew up in New Jersey with an early interest in performing, partly because of his mother’s career as a circus clown. At the age of 7, he felt certain that he would either become a songwriter or a cartoonist. He learned to play guitar as a vessel to tell his stories. By the age of 18, he’d discovered Bob Dylan, Jack Kerouac, and Paul Simon, and decided to hit the road. At 25, he moved to Nashville, to try making it as a songwriter. For three months, he slept in his car in a Walmart parking lot, and developed a local following by playing open mic nights. With a handful of self-funded EPs and albums, Bradbury steadily cultivated a national audience by touring constantly. Talking Dogs & Atom Bombs is Bradbury’s first release for ANTI- Records. - Album Produced by Kenneth Pattengale of The Milk Carton Kids - Featured players on this album include a “who’s who” of Nashville players including Margo Price (featured vocal on “The Trouble With Time” ) , Kenneth Pattengale (vocals, mellotron), Jeremy Ivey (bass, piano), Alex Munoz (guitar, lap steel, vocals) and Dillion Napier (drums).

Originally released in 1972, the same year as their first album, Glorified Magnified was the second album by Manfred Mann's Earth Band's. Produced by Manfred Mann and Dave Hadfield (and Tom McGuinness on It's All Over Now Baby Blue) at Manfred's Workhouse Studios in London's Old Kent Road. The line-up features Manfred, Mick Rogers, Colin Pattenden and Chris Slade. vThis classic album is re-released on 180gm vinyl under the Artist Approved banner.

Filthy Friends - Emerald Valley [LP]

Emerald Valley is the sophomore effort from supergroup Filthy Friends, out May 3 on Kill Rock Stars. This album finds Corin Tucker, Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey, Kurt Bloch, and new drummer Linda Pitmon flexing their muscles both sonically and thematically: the music contains more surprises and sophistication, while the lyrics take on the current state of our planet and our people. The album title and title track come from another name for Eugene, OR, Tuckers home city, and evolved, in her words, into a sort of manifesto about the kind of place we are at as a country but also as a region. Just taking stock of where were at and feeling like I cant believe we let things get this bad.

Dylan LeBlanc - Renegade [Limited Edition Red LP]

Renegade, the new album from acclaimed musician Dylan LeBlanc was produced by Grammy award winning producer Dave Cobb (Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton). The 10-song album was recorded at Cobb’s RCA Studio A in Nashville. LeBlanc shares, “I wanted to write the same type of songs that matched the atmosphere the band and I were bringing live. I started with ‘Renegade,’ which was fitting since I felt myself going in a new, more intense direction."

Dreadnought - Emergence

Vinyl LP pressing. For their fourth full-length album Emergence, Denver, Colorado doom-prog band Dreadnought follow-up their 2017 A Wake In Sacred Waves acclamation with an album that takes their singular multiplex and pictorial sound to new sonic realms even more heavily textile, complex, and vastly designed. This latest sees the four-piece-vocalist / guitarist / flute player Kelly Schilling, drummer / sax player Jordan Clancy, keyboardist / vocalist Lauren Vieria, and bassist / mandolin player Kevin Handlonl-delving into heavier and darker sonic territory, an aspect that was evident with their last one but has become even more fully realized. There are a multitude of layers that establish Dreadnought's sound, making them one of the more unique sounding bands in today's doom / dark / progressive metal circles. Seamlessly sewing together elements from prog, doom, folk, jazz, classical /chamber, avant-garde, and even a little bit of black metal, this is the culmination of the band's continued development and evolution, one that began in 2013 with their debut, Lifewoven. Thematically, this album resonates with the elements of flame, tying together the ancient connection of nature's most destructive yet purifying force with the human condition. Through these five searing tracks, the realities of this age-old cycle of rebirth are personified, beginning with the chaotic annihilation of what is and leaving behind nourishing ash to enrich what is to come. From this a new being arises, forged by these fires of self-destruction and the trials of all the lives before.

Bob Dylan - Under The Red Sky [LP]

Vinyl LP pressing including digital download. Under the Red Sky is the 27th studio album by singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on September 10, 1990. The album was largely greeted as a strange and disappointing follow-up to 1989's critically acclaimed Oh Mercy. Most of the criticism was directed at the slick sound of pop producer Don Was, as well as a handful of tracks that seem rooted in children's nursery rhymes. It is a rarity in Dylan's catalog for it's inclusion of celebrity cameos by Jimmie Vaughan, Slash, Elton John, George Harrison, David Crosby, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Bruce Hornsby.

Velvet Negroni - Neon Brown [LP]

Minneapolis-based experimental R&B vocalist and songwriter Velvet Negroni has announced his forthcoming 4AD debut album NEON BROWN out August 30th. Velvet Negroni is the alter-ego of creative polymath Jeremy Nutzman. Raised in an outer suburb of the Twin Cities, Jeremy - a black kid adopted into a white evangelical Christian family - split his formative years between classical piano lessons and late night jam sessions. A duality that permeates every corner of his music, with forthcoming album NEON BROWN thriving in the borderlands between indie rock and R&B. Since touring with close friend Bon Iver, Nutzman notched writing credits for Kanye West and Kid Cudi ahead of his debut single releases on NYC label b4 in 2018. Now, alongside prolific co-producers Psymun (Young Thug, Juice WLRD, The Weeknd) and Tickle Torture, Nutzman’s new releases transcend the borders between his often polarised influences, bringing R&B slow jams and nods to hometown hero Prince with guitar licks and full band energy. “Lush in its atmosphere but brutally cold in its delivery, “CONFETTI” is a warped invitation into the gorgeous contradictions of Velvet Negroni.” - FADER

The release features songs written or recorded by artists such as Burt Bacharach, The Action, The Yardbirds, Bobby Darin, Julie Driscoll, Billy Fury and the Young Rascals. It thematically begins and ends in an apartment.

The Black Lillies - Stranger To Me [LP]

The Black Lillies are back!

Mark Morton - Anesthetic [LP]

Not only topically relevant in 2019, The Medicine Show further solidifies Etheridge’s in the current music scene and reminds us why Etheridge has remained one of America’s favorite female singer-songwriters for more than two decades.

Ace Of Cups - Ace Of Cups [LP]

Ace Of Cups, the beloved all-women rock group from the late 60s Haight-Ashbury psychedelic scene, will release their self-titled, debut studio album on November 9th via High Moon Records. Produced by Dan Shea (Santana, Jennifer Lopez), this album includes both newly recorded songs written between 1965 and 1969 and new originals written over the past decade.

Within Temptation - Resist [LP]

After 2 decades, WITHIN TEMPTATION is ready to break with the past. Armed with 10 anthemic tracks that consist of heartfelt melodies, bombastic drums and heavy wobbles, but also flawless collaborations with famous singers Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach) and Anders Fidén (In Flames).

Everlast - Whitey Ford's House Of Pain [Import LP]

Double vinyl LP pressing. 2018 release. Platinum-selling artist Everlast returns with his first full-length studio album of original material since 2011's Songs of the Ungrateful Living. Known to most fans for his single What It's Like and as the frontman of House of Pain (Jump Around). Received a Grammy Award in 2000 for his collaboration with Santana.

Harvey Mandel - Games Guitars Play [180 Gram] [Deluxe] [Reissue]

Deluxe 180gm vinyl LP reissue of the 1970 masterpiece by guitar legend Harvey Mandel featuring vocalist Russell DaShiel! Includes the standout instrumental "Ridin' High" plus an excellent cover of Horace Silver's "Senor Blues". Harvey Mandel is a guitarist known for his innovative approach to electric guitar playing.

Nazareth - Fool Circle

In an interview bassist Pete Agnew commented: "Fool Circle was the nearest we came to making a concept album, trying to inject a bit of humor into a pretty heavy subject. I think the fact that we recorded it on the island of Montserrat might account for a teeny bit of reggae poking it's way through."
